I stumbled upon this remix artist through Lawrence Lessig’s blog. Kutiman is the 26 year old Israeli artist the incredibly creative YouTube remix project, ThruYOU. This site features a series of impressive musical mashups created from cutting together amateur videos. I was completely blown away with the first piece below, “Mother of All Funk Chords”, and I was delighted to find even more impressive works on ThruYOU.

These aren’t just simple looped samples of beats and licks. We’re talking about well-composed pieces of music. What’s most impressive about this artist is his ability to cross over a wide spectrum of  genres. I also appreciate how Kutiman also fully embraces the spirit of Creative Commons by crediting each of his video sources. Simply amazing. These are my personal favourites. Highlights include: a theremin solo, pianicas, a Hammond B-3 with a Leslie amp, various synths I can’t even identify, and FuNkY beats!!
